An 11 days trip to the Big Apple City – New York City and New Jersey with five (5) teenagers from Queens College Yaba, Lagos and Babcock University High School, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State for a well-structured Students’ Educational Tour during the last Easter Holiday was embarked upon from April 13 – 25, 2019.
Included on the trip were two accompanying adults from Eassociates Consulting, with the Managing Consultant as the major anchor for the tour program in the United States of America.
It turned out to be a very educative and wonderful adventure for the beaming youths who set out each day from their rented apartment in Roselle, New Jersey, to visit several interesting places in New York City and New Jersey.
They started off by visiting the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York City on their second day of arrival in the United States of America, where they paid a courtesy call on the Head of Mission, The Consul General, Benaoyagha Bernard Mese Okoyen on April 15, 2019.
It was an honour for the entire group to be attended to by the Consul General, who out of his very busy schedule, made out time to receive everyone, along with his able Ministers. He also took time to acquaint the students’ group on the role, duties and responsibilities of the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York. He also attended to the students’ various questions and observations, while offering his fatherly advice, as well as entertained them with sumptuous lunch. It really turned out to be a very memorable day for the over excited students.
The Consul General, Benaoyagha Bernard Mese Okoyen availed the students with opportunity of group photographs with himself and his able Ministers in attendance, and the Managing Consultant, Abiola Awosanya also use the opportunity to present Eassociates Consulting’s Brochure to His Excellency.
The students later met with the Director of Admissions, Communications and Enrolment Services at The New School welcome Centre, located at 72 Fifth Avenue, New York, 10011, where they were taken on a guided tour of the undergraduate programs.
The following day was scheduled for a guided tour of the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, where also learnt about what (UN) stands for, their main purpose, their role in today’s world, their 8 Millennium Development Goals, etc.
They also visited the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum, as well as went on an audio guided Sea Cruise on Circle Line Sight Seeing Cruises. Their next point of call was the Empire State Building, and the American Museum of Natural History where they watched a 3D movie.
Luna Park Coney Island was a whole Saturday packed with lots of fun and excitements, while going on several rides. They later had their lunch at the Park, and as well as went on photo shooting spree.
Meanwhile, who would visit America’s commercial capital and not go on a shopping spree? This turned out as the group’s final outing before departing the United States of America.
As the saying goes, all good things have an end.
They eventually departed United States of America on the 24th of April, 2019. Though they were a bit reluctant to end their well enhancing educational tour and their beautiful adventure in the United States of America, but were definitely all happy to be reunited with their families and friends in Nigeria!
